Q4 financial planning: how to finish the year strong

As we approach Q4, it’s a great time to pause, take stock, and plan with intention. Whether this year flew by or felt like a marathon, now’s your chance to make the last stretch count. When we check in with clients at this time of year, we like to start with three simple but important questions:
- What has worked well for you this year?
What are you proud of? Go back to the goals you set at the beginning of the year—big or small—and give yourself credit for the progress you’ve made. Celebrating wins (even small ones) creates momentum and motivates you for what’s ahead. - What do you want to achieve between now and year-end?
Maybe it’s tying up loose ends, finishing a project, or putting foundations in place for next year. Be specific and realistic, and don’t forget to leave room for the unexpected. - What’s standing in your way—and what can you do about it?
If you’ve been stuck on the same to-do list items month after month, you’re not alone. Ask yourself:- Is it clear what the next step is?
- Is this something that keeps showing up year after year?
- Do you just need someone to tell you what to do—or help you see the full picture?
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure what to prioritize, now is the perfect time to reach out. Sometimes, a short conversation is all it takes to get unstuck and moving forward again.

your Q4 financial checklist
Here are some things we recommend crossing off before year-end:
- Review your insurance coverage
- Complete or revise your will
- Schedule a check-in with your accountant
- Revisit your goals for 2025
- Tackle any financial housekeeping you’ve been putting off
Depending on how you answered the three questions above, your Q4 checklist might look a little different, but that’s okay. If you’d like support organizing your priorities, creating a clear plan, or just want an accountability nudge, we’re here to help.
